These images are from a survey visit to the Granite Plant of Cone Mills in Haw River, North Carolina. Although the mill operated until near the end of the twenteth century, it actually originated as a water-powered mill in the early part of the ninteenth century. Much of the original mill structure and raceways are still in place. All of this gallery was shot using only natural light. Many of the interior shots suffer from lighting issues, but still provide an insight to this fascinating cotton mill property.

Plans are to revisit and reshoot the historical portion of the mill using portable lighting equipment, tripods and such to overcome the darkness in the bowels of the buildings.
